Commercial Inventory Loss Claims

Damaged, contaminated, or destroyed inventory is one of the hardest commercial losses to get paid fairly. It isn't one item to value; it's hundreds or thousands, moving in and out of your building constantly, and insurance companies know most businesses can't reconstruct an exact pre-loss count on short notice.

Why Inventory Claims Get Underpaid

Valuation method disputes. Insurers often push toward the lowest defensible number: wholesale cost instead of the coverage your policy actually promises, or a blanket depreciation percentage applied across mismatched product categories.

No pre-loss baseline. Without a recent physical count or reliable perpetual inventory system, adjusters can dispute how much stock was actually on hand the day of the loss — and the burden of proving it usually falls on you.

Partial-loss and contamination disputes. Smoke, water, and power-outage losses often damage inventory that still looks sellable. Insurers may argue it can be discounted and sold rather than treated as a total loss, ignoring health, safety, or brand-standard reasons you can't do that.

Seasonal and perishable stock. A loss that hits your highest-value season carries real revenue consequences beyond the inventory itself; adjusters frequently value seasonal goods at off-season averages.

Documenting an Inventory Loss

The strongest inventory claims combine several sources rather than relying on memory: point-of-sale and inventory-management system exports, vendor invoices and purchase orders, physical count sheets, and photographs of damaged stock before anything is discarded or cleaned up.

Don't dispose of damaged inventory before it's documented, even if it's taking up space you need back. Once it's gone, so is the easiest evidence of what was actually lost.

What We Do

We reconstruct the pre-loss inventory picture from whatever records exist, document the damaged stock before it's disposed of, and push back on valuation methods that don't match your policy language. We handle the negotiation so you can focus on restocking and reopening.

No hourly billing. No upfront cost.

Our fee is a percentage of what you recover.

We work for you, not for the insurance company.
